Education
However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?
Any parent whose dream is to maintain a long-term relationship with their children, one with full of respect and gratitude towards each other, should never think twice about bringing their children to the Sunday school.
We don’t say that your children will stagger in their education if they do not come to the Sunday school. We don’t say that your children’s success in the professional field will suffer if they do not attend the Sunday school. Of course, your children will study well and will become professionally successful even if they do not attend the Sunday school.
We are requesting you to bring your children to the Sunday school because of a different reason–one that should be extremely important to you if you think about it carefully.
Besides their educational and professional success, you, as a proud parent, have several other expectations as well. One of them is to maintain a lifelong healthy relationship with your children; another is to see your children following our religious and cultural values that are beneficial to them. These, from your viewpoint, are quite legitimate expectations and are as important as your children’s educational and professional success.
It is in the Sunday school that your children realize the importance of their parents, their family, their religion, their culture, and their native language. It is there that they instill spiritual and moral values that are richly present in the teachings of the Buddha. It is there that they find friends of the same category and actively participate in socio-cultural activities that are unique to us.
This environment surrounding Sunday school means a lot to your children. Thus influenced in their childhood, your children will enter adulthood as moralistic, spiritual, and family-oriented people who cherish the memories of their childhood experience for the rest of their life.
